How can yoga help in improving your flexibility

We all wish to have a super flexible body and always wonder how some people are more flexible than us. Probably most of us feel that others are blessed and we are not. However, flexibility is something that doesn’t happen by default, and it can be very well achieved with few efforts.

Experts say that yoga can be helpful in making your body more flexible and giving the muscles and joints an enhanced range of motion. It is a known fact that yoga and stretching are a reflection of each other. It is believed that stretching must be a part of your general fitness regime. In fact, stretching is done for a few minutes before performing any form of exercise.

However, yogic stretching is more intense than regular stretching. Yoga helps in preventing muscle soreness along with faster recovery between the training sessions. Yogic stretching is said to work as a battery charger. Yoga is known for loosening the tight muscle which traps the lactic acid- a waste that gets collected in muscle cells while you train hard.

It is this accumulation of lactic acid which leads to muscular fatigue. Yogic stretching will release the lactic acid from muscles cells in the bloodstream to stop it from hindering the muscular contraction. Increasing flexibility is very important as it becomes helpful in routine life as well. Yoga has several asanas that act on your whole body which also includes the joints that are left unaffected when doing other forms of exercise.

If you have a relatively rigid body, you will notice a remarkable difference at the beginning of practising yoga and a few days of practising. You may notice flexibility in even those parts that you never work upon consciously. The benefit of right yogic stretching is that it promotes flexibility in your entire body.

When your entire body gets trained together during yoga, it creates balance and harmony in the body. As a matter of fact, when you train the opposing muscle groups, flexibility can be achieved quite faster.

Here’s why you must focus on increasing your flexibility:

 – When your muscles are well stretched, they easily achieve their full range of motion.

 – Having a flexible body can help in preventing the injuries while playing sports or working out which can happen when you have a rigid body.

 – Flexibility can also assist in balance and back pain issues.

Thus, practising yoga daily can be helpful in increasing the flexibility of your body.
