Chakras relate to energy inherent in a person and its balance. When your chakras are balanced, you have perfect health and your mind is at peace

We have energy flowing all around us, and it is important that we relate to them and balance it our body and mind remains in perfect harmony with the universe. Kundalini is the name given to the root force or life force that is likened to a coiled serpent lying at the base of the spine.

Association of the Chakras

The Chakras have links to our physical health. They are also associated with a colour and sound. To study your chakra in depth, go through each with the associated colour and sound.

  1. Crown Chakra – Violet to White – No Sound – (B Note)
  2. Third Eye Chakra – Indigo – Om (A Note)
  3. Throat Chakra – Azure Blue – Ham (G Note)
  4. Heart Chakra – Green – Yam (F Note)
  5. Solar Plexus Chakra – Yellow – Ram (E Note)
  6. Sacral Chakra – Orange – Vam (D Note)
  7. Root Chakra – Red – Lam (C Note) 

Balance of the Chakras

Crown Chakra

Located on top of your head, your crown chakra connects to the divine. It is higher consciousness. Balanced state shows faith in the universe and readiness to assimilate information. When blocked, you have depression and learning difficulties. When overactive, you become judgemental or have spiritual addiction. Physically, you might feel dizziness, migraines or headaches, and cognition problems.

Third Eye Chakra

This is located on your forehead; it represents your mind’s eye or intuition. When balanced, you have an active imagination and are highly intuitive. When blocked or underactive, you have poor judgement, imagination, and memory. When overactive, you have delusions and hallucinations. Physically, you will have poor vision and eye pain.

Throat Chakra

We see this in the throat region and is associated with speech. It deals with self-expression.  When balanced, you are clear and confident. When blocked or underactive, you are a poor listener and overly secretive. When overactive you speak harshly and criticize openly. Weak immune system and cold and sore throat are the physical manifestations.

Heart Chakra

This is next to your physical heart at the centre of the chest. It deals with relationships and unity with your fellow man. When balanced, you feel loved and love everyone. When blocked or underactive, you feel hate and have trust issues. Physically, it might mean lung issues or heart disease.

Solar Plexus Chakra

This has a place in the stomach region and relates to your physical well-being. It is right above the navel and gives your personal power. When it is balanced, you feel powerful and have a strong drive. When it is blocked, you have low self-esteem and lack direction. You become over sensitive to criticism. When overactive, you become domineering and power hungry.

Sacral Chakra

It is placed below the navel where the reproductive organs are. It is associated with reproductive power and creative force. When balanced, it makes you creative and passionate. When under active, you become afraid of intimacy and lack creativity. When overactive, you have sexual fixation, indulge in drama, and become manipulative.

Root Chakra

This lies at the base of the spine. It concerns safety and survival. You could call it grounding. When balanced, it shows the person as being centred, safe, and secure. When under active or blocked, you have fear and anxiety. When overactive, you have greed and lust for power.

It is time to explore your own chakras and find out the ones that are not in balance and rectify them. Most people have problems with their solar plexus chakra and their throat chakra. Do meditate and imagine the energy flowing around and through you.  Acceptance of this energy flow will unblock any discrepancies there are and let you become harmonized with your surroundings.
